The title of your song reminds me of an old riddle...

Oddly, it took me a long time to get that joke when I was a kid. "How do you get down from a duck?" I'd think. "It's not that high off the ground. Why, you'd probably squash the thing if you were on top of it."
I blame the public school system.

Maybe it's just because I've heard "Digging In THe Dirt" 12 times today on the radio. No, it's not a golden oldie. They're using the song as a promo for the FX Network show "Dirt", in which Courteney Cox plays an editor of a gossip rag. They've been playing that promo every half hour on the radio.
My Peter Gabriel influence is probably ALWAYS showing...not to mention, as I believe as has been discussed before, my Andy Partridge fetish. It's nice to rise above your influences but I'm OK with sounding like someone you like rather than "Geez, that sounds like Taco" or something...
True story: A guy I knew in high school wrote a book report in English class about a totally madeup science fiction book called OMEGA MORTAL by "Peter Gabriel."
He got an A.
