Mustang

Mustang
(Wall)

An early attempt (1992) to channel the Beach Boys magic. To be specific, the "car song" era BBs, and it sounds like we ran over 'em with one. John wants to redo this to make it sound "good", but I love this version. Too much goofy fun, man...

Al "Brian Wilson" Morgan: Vox, backing vox, "saxophone"
Scott "Mike Love" Sookman: Vox, backing vox
Scott "Dennis Wilson" Hewitt: Vox, backing vox
John "Murray Wilson" Wall: Vox (!), guitars
Dave "Wrecking Crew*" Waterbury: Drums, Bass

*Famous L.A. studio musicians (Hal Blaine, Carol Kaye, etc) employed by Brian Wilson on classic Beach Boys tracks.

On a semi-related note, I always imagined a video for this would be great. We're all wearing those Beach Boys striped shirts, and when we get to the "...Slick Fat Tires in the back" line, we open up the trunk of the car and Sook is crammed in there wearing a 30's-style mobster outfit. He smiles and waves as we sing our way into America's hearts...
